Opuntia gosseliniana, also known as Gosselin’s Prickly Pear, is a cactus species belonging to the Cactaceae family. Native to the arid and semi-arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, this plant is well adapted to desert and rocky environments. It is particularly appreciated for its flat, colorful pads.

Light
This cactus loves bright environments and thrives in direct sunlight. Make sure it receives at least six hours of sun per day to ensure optimal growth and vibrant coloration of its pads.
Watering
Opuntia gosseliniana prefers dry, well-draining soil. Water moderately during the growing season (spring and summer), allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering significantly to avoid excess moisture.
Soil
Use a potting mix designed for cacti and succulents, which ensures good drainage. A mix of potting soil, coarse sand, and perlite is ideal to prevent excess moisture around the roots.
Temperature
This cactus prefers warm temperatures, between 20°C and 35°C (68°F–95°F). It can tolerate cooler conditions but should be protected from frost and temperatures below 5°C (41°F).
