Mammillaria elongta ‘lemon’

Description

Here are some care tips:

Light

Mammillaria elongata prefers bright to sunny locations. Place it where it can receive several hours of direct sunlight each day. However, it can also tolerate partial shade during the hottest parts of the day.

Watering

Like most cacti, Mammillaria elongata is highly drought-tolerant and requires very little water. Water only when the soil is completely dry—about every three to four weeks in summer. In winter, reduce watering to once a month or even less, depending on temperature and humidity levels.

Soil

Use a well-draining soil mix specifically designed for cacti and succulents. Ensure the pot has proper drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Temperature

Mammillaria elongata prefers warm conditions and tolerates summer heat well. It can survive slight frost, but it’s best to protect it from freezing temperatures.

Fertilization

Feed your Mammillaria elongata once a month during spring and summer with a diluted cactus fertilizer. Avoid over-fertilizing, as cacti naturally thrive in nutrient-poor soils.

Repotting

Repot every two to three years in spring, using a slightly larger pot if needed. Be careful not to bury the stems too deeply, as this can lead to rot.

Precautions

Handle Mammillaria elongata carefully to avoid injury from its spines. Use gloves when handling, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
