Sedum dasyphyllum

Description

Sedum dasyphyllum also known as Sedum burnatii, is a succulent plant from the Crassulaceae family, native to Europe. It is prized for its dense, mat-forming foliage and its ability to create beautiful cascading displays in rock gardens and hanging containers.

Here are some care tips:

Light

Sedum dasyphyllum prefers full sun to partial shade. Place it in a spot where it can receive a few hours of direct sunlight each day. Morning sun exposure is ideal to encourage compact and dense growth.

Watering

As a drought-tolerant succulent, Sedum ‘Angelina’ requires minimal watering. Water moderately about once every two weeks in summer, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering to once a month when growth slows down.

Soil

Use a well-draining soil mix, such as a cactus or succulent blend. Make sure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Temperature

This plant is fairly hardy and can tolerate temperatures down to around -10°C to -15°C (14°F to 5°F). However, it’s best to protect it from prolonged frost to avoid leaf damage.

Fertilization

Feed with a balanced, diluted fertilizer once in early spring to boost growth. Avoid fertilizing in fall and winter when the plant goes dormant.

Repotting

Repot your Sedum dasyphyllum every 2 to 3 years in spring if necessary, choosing a slightly larger pot to allow for root expansion.

Propagation : This plant can be easily propagated from healthy stem or leaf cuttings. Let the cuttings dry slightly before planting them in well-draining soil to encourage rooting.

Entretien

Remove dead or damaged leaves regularly to encourage healthy, compact growth and to maintain an attractive appearance.

Precautions

Sedum dasyphyllum is non-toxic to humans and pets, though it’s still best to keep it out of reach of children and animals.
