Kalanchoe beharensis ‘fang’

Description

Kalanchoes are popular succulent plants appreciated for their vibrant flowers and easy care. They are ideal for indoor cultivation or bright patios, offering long-lasting blooms with minimal maintenance.

Here are some tips to help you care for this beautiful plant:

Light
Kalanchoes prefer bright, sunny conditions. Place them near a south- or southeast-facing window where they can receive 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Watering
Water moderately when the top layer of soil feels dry — about once every two weeks in summer and less often in winter. Make sure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water accumulation, which can cause root rot.

Humidity
These plants thrive in dry environments with good air circulation. Avoid excessive humidity, as it may lead to fungal issues.

Temperature
Kalanchoes grow best in moderate to warm temperatures (18°C–27°C / 64°F–81°F). Protect them from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C (50°F).

Soil
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix, or prepare your own by combining standard potting soil with coarse sand or perlite to ensure good aeration and drainage.

Fertilization
Feed lightly every 2 to 4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted fertilizer for succulents. Reduce or stop fertilizing in autumn and winter when growth slows down.

Pruning
Remove spent flowers to encourage continued blooming. Lightly trim the stems if necessary to maintain a compact shape and prevent legginess.

Common Problems
Watch for root rot caused by overwatering. Aphids and mealybugs can occasionally appear — treat them with an appropriate insecticide or a mild water-and-soap solution.
