Description
Echeveria is a succulent plant native to Mexico, belonging to the Crassulaceae family. This species is widely appreciated for the beauty of its fleshy rosettes.
It is a relatively easy-to-care-for plant, perfect for rock gardens or potted displays on windowsills.
Light
Place it in a bright location with plenty of indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day, especially in summer, as it may scorch the leaves.
Watering
Like most succulents, Echeveria requires little water. Water moderately in spring and summer, about every two to three weeks, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In autumn and winter, reduce watering to once a month.
Soil
Use a well-draining soil mix, such as cactus soil blended with sand or perlite, to ensure proper drainage and prevent root rot.
Temperature
Echeveria prefers warm to moderate climates and does not tolerate frost. Keep it in an environment where temperatures stay above 10°C (50°F).
Fertilization
Feed lightly with a diluted succulent fertilizer once a month during spring and summer to encourage healthy growth and occasional blooming.
Repotting
Repot every two to three years in spring, if necessary, choosing a pot slightly larger than the previous one to allow room for growth.
Precautions
Although non-toxic, Echeveria may produce sap that can irritate the skin. Wear gloves when handling the plant to avoid direct contact with its latex.
